Roger Cleveland

Founded Cleveland Golf in 1979. Stayed on with Cleveland through 1995, working extensively with PGA Tour players satisfying their product needs in every facet of their games, especially in the short game with wedges. Notable designs include the 485 and 588 Cleveland Classic wedges that would later become the most popular and most copied wedges to this day.

Worked from 1996 to 2024 as the Chief of Golf Club Design for Callaway Golf. Roger was primarily responsible for iron and wedge designs, and collaborated on woods and putters. Iron designs were most notable with the X-Series product line, starting with the X12 and on and the X-Series Wedges, JAWS and other wedge lines.

Roger returned to Cleveland Golf in 2025 to focus on the advancement of product development and of course, future wedge designs.

Working alongside the world’s best tour pros led Roger to have an intense interest in all aspects of the short game. A specific short game technique has recently emerged that is employed by most of the world’s best. The new Pitch Lock training aid was designed to teach you this technique.
